On the 9th August after dieting for 12 or 10 weeks Naera and I battled it out on the stage. After blogging for 10 weeks on my "Battle of the Bitches" page we went out on stage and did our own personal and combined battle for the NABBA/WFF Pan Pacific Champs in the Open Bodybuilding/Physique Class. I won the first place Trophy but if I could of stood on stage and cut in it two pieces I would have, as Naera and I were in this together and she deserved 1st place every bit as much as I. We had so much fun doing the event, and the build up to it. Blogging our way through it was motivating in itself. We had alot of people's high expectations to live up, and we needed to prove that we practice what we preach to our clients.
Alot of people wondered why we did it, but they are pleased that we did as I know we helped alot of people along the way in their own preparation for comps or just for their own daily nutrition hurdles. The reason for us to do it, was as personal trainers, we wanted to show people that we do it as hard as anybody. Nobody ever gets used to the challenges of competition. We all get down by scales if we let it. We tried to show females that our weight can flucuate even when we are being good, so giving up is not an option. Scale weight can change each morning you get on then. As Open Class/International competitors we dont have a problem with eliminating food choices from our diet for comp prep, thats the easy part for us, but we definately do have challenges with low energy while on a calorie deprived diet, and we definately struggle with time management but we always get there in the end. I know the both of us went to bed at night, no matter what time knowing we were set up for the next day with food, our schedules planned for when we would fit training and cardio in, and juggle everything around our competition preparation.

BEFORE:In these Pictures Naera was 58 kgs, I was 68 kgs
AFTER: How we looked 12 weeks later
Before I started to do the competition I weighed myself one day after New Year and absolutely freaked - I was 70kgs but I still felt pretty good - abit chunky but good. My partner at the time loved my body how it was but I had been a little slack at getting out for my runs. I used to always make my runs a priority but with work being busy and my computer work taking up my afternoons before I went back to work for my evening shift, I let the runs subside, and many of you know I have run all my life.. I love running more than eating... thats how much I love the feeling of running and being by myself for time out so to let it go was fatal for me mentally and physically. After alot of indecision I decided I wanted to compete again. Naera and I had been talking about it since Xmas so I made my own motivation vid to get me started. You can check out my what now video and you will see that was the beginning of many changes for me this year. The words had alot of meaning to me as my relationship had began to breakdown and we went through many bad months together. After the break up I was devastated. I needed to throw myself into the competition to help me to heal and I put everything I had into it. It did help me push the sad feelings aside for a time and it certainly took some of the emphasis off a broken heart and I was too busy to brood but it didnt heal me. Lets just say it was a good substitute for a time.
Naera was my rock more than she knew she was. She would go out of her way to help me when needed even though she was crazy busy in her own little world. We did some nice things together during our "Battle". We went out to Waiwera one Sunday for a relax in the spa and sauna and that was sheer bliss. We trained a few times, did the stadium together, did a photo shoot with Go Figure - see Go Figures Battle of the Bitches Video, did a photo shoot with Linda Hickin, see Lindas facebook page
We did the Sports Expo on behalf of Gym Stick NZ - Gym Stick NZ, and we went to Hamilton together to be fitted for our bikini with Kirsty Patterson of Flexiwear Apparel who made us the most devine sexy hot as bikinis. We generally contacted each most days to see how we were feeling and supported each other. Normally one of us would text " How are you", the reply would be "Fucked, how are you?". the obvious reply was normally " "Fucked too". lol.
I have lots of things to add to my site in the next week about our comp which tells you more about our whole event - some funny, some serious, and for me personally, I will be posting my post competition plans and my tributes to everybody who helped and supported me in some way. Naera is going on to compete in the NZ Nationals and the NABBA/WFF Worlds but I have other plans but I will have her back and do whatever I can for her. And I will definately keep you posted.
