Cory Everson was one of the woman who first inspired me to compete back when I began training in 1989-1990. I had began weight training for rehab at 29 years old and I joint the local gym - Better Bodies in Hornby, Christchurch, New Zealand. I had seen one kiwi female bodybuilder on tv who had just won her National title and her name was Billie Balani so while watching the interview I was sitting there knowing I wanted to compete one day. Cory and other females of the 80's & 90"s such Anya Langer, Juliette Bergman & Sharon Brunei where my true inspiration.
There were always magazines on the reception desk and scattered around the tables at the gym and since Cory had 200 front covers, there was every chance that every magazine either had her on the cover or definately inside its pages. I used to drool over her body and dream of having photo shoots and interviews like she was doing, thinking it was way beyond what I could achieve but I would strive for it. Yeah big dreams make big motivation.
This is the woman whose body and hair I wanted so much, I sat through hours of perming to achieve this look for my first photoshoot and I always loved brown
on Cory so have very often worn that for competition or photo shoots as well. She is my idol. I have met alot of the top female but I never did get to meet Cory. One day maybe.
Cory is the defending champion of 6 x Ms Olmpia Titles - six consecutive times - 1984-1989. Absolutely amazing. She has featured in movies with Jean Claude Van-Damn - Double Impact and also in Hercules as Atalanta.
